Keys to Emotional Health & Well-Being: Becoming the ANSWER a Child Needs

A 1.25 hour Keynote Address from Dr. Gordon Neufeld

The scientific evidence is mounting that emotion is indeed at the heart of the matter, whether the issue is the stress response, problem behaviour, attention problems, learning problems, immaturity, or even mental illness. Given this new understanding, it only makes sense that emotional health and well-being should become our collective priority, whether it be at home, at school, or at work. But what is emotional health and well-being? How can we recognize it and foster it in ourselves, in our students, in our clients, and in our loved ones? Fresh understandings of the neurobiology of emotion are revealing interesting and surprising answers that have implications for us all.

In this foundational keynote, Dr. Neufeld offers a compelling invitation: we, not the experts, are the answer our children need. Drawing on fresh insights from the neurobiology of emotion and attachment, he explores how becoming that answer is not about doing more, but about being — nurturing the conditions that allow growth, rest, play, and emotional resilience to flourish naturally. This talk lays the essential conceptual groundwork for anyone seeking to cultivate emotional well-being in the children (and adults) they care for.

Our free resources come with a 30-Day Study Pass

We want our free resources to be truly used—not just stored for “someday.” That’s why each one comes with a 30-Day Study Pass: a gentle nudge to begin now, while the invitation is fresh. We’ve found that when there’s a natural time frame, people are more likely to dive in and benefit from the resource.
